It Doesn't Happen Like This
Healing is not a new concept. Nor is it new to need to heal. It has been embarked on, and likely achieved for millennia before we created the models that we all know and don’t necessarily love.
Now to be clear, there are benefits to being able to work through the traumas and challenges that you may have incurred before you go into communal environments. It is important to not displace what we have experienced on others intentionally or unintentionally. However, the task of healing does not happen in a vacuum. It is not an individualistic action.
Bad Timing & Mismatched Partners
We need one another and to truly be within the existence of interdependent community we have to do the work. We have to work to heal our wounds and to release what continues to fester and create harm. Can you seek to find where your darkest parts are and what caused them to be shrouded and hidden? And to be clear, darkness does not mean negative. It could be a glorious part of yourself that you were conditioned to believe should never see the light of day.
Shadow work requires you to be honest with yourself…

Involving Your Senses In Your Connection
What would it feel like if all of a sudden you just felt lighter? If the space taken up by so much heaviness just dissipated and was replaced by open air. Less about good and bad and more about the peace that comes with neutrality. No urgency, no deficiency, and no need to fill the vacancies with noise and vapid chatter. Lingering glances and hands on shoulders conveying more than a full dissertation ever could. Physical touch and validation combining to create comfort and reassurance. Feel the sensations your body is receiving.
Seeking: How Your Desire To Explore Can Benefit The Collective
The seeker needs to know that they can maintain autonomy while being a part of a unit. The inner call they have to start new things is what keeps them from being restless and complacent. While community can signal stability in a way that may trigger feelings of being limited, that stability can provide the opportunity for adventure with a safe place to land after you need a reprieve. Let’s think about the gifts and challenges for a seeker as a part of an interdependent community with three specific examples.
Individuation vs Individualism: Your Resistant Rebel Self
If being different just makes you a part of a hoard of more of the same, then are you actually being different? Being who you are is what makes communal cohesion beautifully dynamic, but let’s question if who you are is based on your inherent uniqueness or simply a need to shirk the system in a contrary fashion that isn’t really you.
Keeping It Going With Introspective Prompts
We recently dug into the 5 pillars of the journey From Curiosity to Community. If you missed it or need a refresher, you can learn more over at my website. The info gave you a foundation on the principles. Now I want to give you some journaling prompts so you can take the info from just words and make it into actionable reflection.
When Conversation Becomes More Than Just Talking
If you are someone that verbally processes, you will not always understand what the point is until you have been given the permission by yourself or others to just talk. Because this is where your magic is.
The problem with trying to simplify the train of thought of a verbal processor is that you are forcing them to condense not only the genius inside of their words but the ability to piece the puzzle together as they’re talking. The conversation is about building a picture. Laying out the contributing actions, considering what the options are, and talking through some possible outcomes.
Interdependent Community is...
Let’s chat a bit and take some time today to get clear on the concept of interdependent community and break it down a little. I’ll share my perspective of what I personally seek to create along with what I hear from clients.
Lies You’re Told: Shadow Work
Wellness is a big ‘ol bucket that tends to have a ton of subject areas thrown into it even if they’re only mildly related. And because of that, wellness as a concept feels overused and diluted. Terms like mental health, spirituality, healing, mindfulness, therapy…I have definitely heard them muddled together and I’m pretty sure you have too. This can create less trust in modalities that can be very beneficial for you. Like shadow work.
You Are Not The Imposter
What if the imposter isn’t who you’re becoming and it really is who you are no longer choosing to be?
Curiosity Kept The Cat Alive
Curiosity is always running in the background of life. “What will happen when I _____?” is a question that we answer countless times a day by taking action. We are propelled with a constant but subtle undercurrent of “what’s next” coursing through our veins. Without it, we’d likely just do nothing. Meander around with no purpose because it just wouldn’t matter.
How do I know if I'm ready to dig into Shadow Work?
Wondering if you’re ready for shadow work? It’s a question that comes up that sometimes goes unspoken and yet its written all over people’s faces. And the truth is, there is no magical place you get to that signals that you’re ready. Shadow work is often positioned as an intimidating journey to begin…
