Involving Your Senses In Your Connection
Getting back into your body...
I’ve been making a conscious effort lately to pay attention to my languaging of “thinking” and “feeling”. Often the statement that many of us say is “I really feel like” when we are not actually feeling anything. We’re thinking. However, too much thinking and staying in our heads can lead to us being disconnected from our bodies and out of sync with our intuition.
Let’s take a moment to consider what things could actually “feel” like. Think of this like an opportunity for you to reconnect with your internal compass in the midst of the conflicting energy of the world swirling around you.
What would it feel like if all of a sudden you just felt lighter? If the space taken up by so much heaviness just dissipated and was replaced by open air. Less about good and bad and more about the peace that comes with neutrality. No urgency, no deficiency, and no need to fill the vacancies with noise and vapid chatter. Lingering glances and hands on shoulders conveying more than a full dissertation ever could. Physical touch and validation combining to create comfort and reassurance. Feel the sensations your body is receiving.
You can see so much more when you no longer rely on your eyes to do all the work and trust that your soul knows the way. Ancestral knowledge provides the vantage point of someone who has done this before and can do it yet again. A viewpoint full of open opportunity and the understanding that the only thing that matters is the here and now and how it will be cataloged in the books of knowing. How this is the really way our sight processes what we feel.
You hear the levity of connection without insecurity. How it surrounds you and opens you up to hear the colors and feel the thoughts. The ability to be with others in ways that stem from care and attention being paid to all in their personally desired ways. Your ears are a receptacle for the songs of love being sonically shared from one to another. Musical notes that transcend words and delivers on its promises.
You taste the bitterness of the past like dandelion greens with the nutrient-heavy dose of lessons learned for future generations. You feel the honey of possibility with the fruit of fun and the earthy sweetness of the gifts that nature has given to us. The undertones of what you must do stick to you as you allow the knowledge that you are not alone to permeate you in all ways. And satiate your hunger for progress.
Your back touches the cool, soothing dampness of the ground beneath you. Grass supported by soil that is watered by the the sweat of intentions and actions to support those around you. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The earth a firm foundation grounding you here and propelling you into the sky. Cycles always in motion asking you to play your role with intention and consideration.
Feel all your feels as all of your senses guide you forward.

Do you recognize any of these feelings or behaviors within yourself? If so, begin with the prompts above and explore where they take you next. Be gentle & patient with yourself, and ask for help if you need it. You don’t have to do this alone.
